(Representative Director: Shintaro Hirado) will hold a water cycle symposium themed ‘Let’s commit to making small changes for a water tomorrow’ at Rusutsu Resort, Hokkaido, from September 22 (Sunday) to September 23 (Monday), 2024.
As global water shortages become increasingly severe, this symposium is designed to reaffirm the importance of water resources in Japan and to consider the role of local communities. Set in Rusutsu Village, Hokkaido, the event will bring together businesses, local governments, and experts to discuss concrete measures to promote sustainable water resource conservation activities while maintaining a balance between economic development and nature.
Background of the Symposium
Water has historically and culturally been deeply intertwined with people’s lives, supporting our way of living. However, in modern times, environmental conservation has become an increasingly important issue due to the impacts of climate change. This symposium will focus on the water resources of Rusutsu Village, Hokkaido, aiming to exchange opinions among industry, government, academia, and the community on the conservation of water resources and environmental development with a perspective looking 100 years into the future. The goal is to take a new step towards achieving a sustainable society.
